Is Addiction To Video Games A Mental Disorder?
July 29, 2009
Children who lock themselves up in their rooms playing video games from morning to evening can be categorized as addicts. These kids usually ignore their daily routine work like, hanging out with their friends, taking showers, eating meals or even taking a simple walk down the park. A group of doctors from all over the world have done a research and have officially formulated this behavior as a psychiatric disorder. This research however was done to create awareness all over.
The doctors recommend that children should not be allowed to play these games for a longer period of time without doing a constructive activity. Parents must always monitor their kids on various occasions to prevent this behavior from getting out of hand, thus causing permanent damage. Like they say too much of something is harmful to your health, you should take that and practice it as a daily “thing” in your life not just video games.
When you have your leisure time include other activities like jogging, swimming, watching television and the list goes on. However if you are video game fun and you find yourself spending most of the time doing this, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are addicted. This only means that you love video games.
